Job Description
Sacred Heart Early Childhood Center in Kingston is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and EEC-certified Lead Pre-K Teacher to design a safe, joyful, and stimulating classroom environment. In this role, you will lead daily classroom operations, implement an academically enriching and play-based curriculum, and foster strong foundational skills in young children. As a leader in our school, you will mentor assistant teachers and partner directly with families to support each child’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. You will be working with children ages 4-5. We operate on a school year schedule and teachers hours are 7:15-3:15.
- Curriculum & Instruction: Plan and execute developmentally appropriate lesson plans that spark curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured environment where children are treated with dignity and respect.
- Assessments & Progress: Observe and assess child development to track developmental milestones and tailor individual learning paths.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all state licensing regulations, supervision manuals, and safety accountability policies.
- Family Partnerships: Maintain open, professional communication with families through daily updates, behavioral check-ins, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide assistant teachers and floaters to model the school’s core educational values.
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
- Certification: EEC Lead Teacher Certification from Massachusetts.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of classroom experience operating as a lead or co-lead teacher in a licensed childcare center.
- Skills: Strong classroom management, fluency in English, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to remain actively engaged throughout the day, sit on the floor, stand for long intervals, and lift up to 30–50 pounds.
- Clearances: Must pass all state-mandated background checks, fingerprinting, and health screenings
