Job Summary
Cristo Rey Boston High School is seeking a part-time teacher for college prep and AP level Spanish to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program and learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Essential Job Duties
Provide a motivating and stimulating learning environment.
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards
Provide students with support (remediation and enrichment) using a variety of strategies.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson and assessment design.
Participate actively in faculty, department and team meetings.
Follow safety procedures and written and verbal instructions.
Requirements
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in related field. A graduate degree is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning
Consistent and on-time attendance for supervision and instruction of the students
An appreciation for the school's unique mission and commitment to the values of Catholic education
Commitment to the mission of the school as defined by the Cristo Rey Network Mission Effectiveness Standards
Compliance with BCI and FBI background checks and completion of Protecting God's Children program
Preferred
At least 2 years of prior successful (effectively teaching and assessing a culturally diverse student population) high school or middle school teaching experience preferred with a valid State Certification.
Experience in a faith-based organization
Prior experience with Cristo Rey schools, Teach for America, Urban Catholic Teacher Corps, Alliance for Catholic Education or Nativity/Miguel Schools
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, climb stairs and operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
