Job Description: Social Studies Teacher - 7th, 8th, and 9th Grades
Classification: Full-Time Position, Middle School Social Studies
Reports to: Social Studies Department Chairperson
Job Summary:
Fontbonne is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and motivated individual to join our faculty as a Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing a rigorous and engaging social studies education while helping students grow intellectually, morally, and spiritually. The position includes the following responsibilities:
Understanding and modeling the mission, vision, and values of Fontbonne and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston as a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Boston
Fostering a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that respects and values the diverse backgrounds of students
Developing and delivering curriculum that aligns with Social Studies Department standards and policies
Collaborating with members of the Social Studies department
Posting assignments using our online LMS
Evaluating student work and maintaining gradebooks
Assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and supporting their academic growth.
Communicating regularly with parents and guardians about student progress
Participating in faculty meetings, retreats, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in History or a related field
A Master’s degree in Social Studies is preferred
3-5 years of teaching experience preferred
