Social Studies Teacher

Job Description:  Social Studies Teacher - 7th, 8th, and 9th Grades
Classification: Full-Time Position, Middle School Social Studies

Reports to: Social Studies Department Chairperson 

Job Summary:

Fontbonne is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and motivated individual to join our faculty as a Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing a rigorous and engaging social studies education while helping students grow intellectually, morally, and spiritually. The position includes the following responsibilities:

• Understanding and modeling the mission, vision, and values of Fontbonne and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston as a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Boston

• Fostering a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that respects and values the diverse backgrounds of students

• Developing and delivering curriculum that aligns with Social Studies Department standards and policies

• Collaborating with members of the Social Studies department

• Posting assignments using our online LMS

• Evaluating student work and maintaining gradebooks

• Assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and supporting their academic growth.

• Communicating regularly with parents and guardians about student progress

• Participating in faculty meetings, retreats, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications: 

A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in History or a related field
A Master’s degree in Social Studies is preferred

3-5 years of teaching experience preferred
