Chemistry/Physics Teacher

Part time/Full time position depending on expertise.  

Reports to: Science Department Chairperson

Job Summary: 

  •  Understanding and modeling the mission, vision, and values of Fontbonne and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston as a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Boston 

  •  Developing and delivering inquiry based, culturally competent curriculum using Massachusetts Frameworks and the Science department goals and outcomes 

  •  Keeping current with the fields of Chemistry and Physics.  Utilizing current scientific online content and resources in the classroom

  • Collaborating with members of the Science department on innovative teaching strategies and understanding of different student learning styles.

  • Establishes a motivating and engaging classroom management style required to achieve effective participation in all activities.

  • Ability to reflect on personal learning through the analysis of one’s teaching practice, student learning data, and the teaching practices of others

  •  Posting assignments using the online LMS

  •  Evaluating student work using a variety of formative and summative assessments.

  • Maintaining gradebooks and offering feedback to students

  • Fulfilling responsibilities expected of faculty members .

  • Open to learning and professional development opportunities provided by Fontbonne and its affiliates

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor Degree Required 

  • Experience in high school education and a masters degree are preferred. 

  • Applicants must be able to work with students from diverse backgrounds with a variety of teaching strategies

  • Salary Range:  $49,000 - $60,000 depending on experience
